Transfer from Quito's airport to CASA HELBLING
Quito's new airport, "Mariscal Sucre Internacional" in Tababela, northeast of the capital, began to operate on February 20, 2013. Airport-Website: http://www.aeropuertoquito.aero/
The new airport is ca. 35 km from the Mariscal area, a ride of 45 - 90 minutes. The following options exist to reach CASA HELBLING:
1. Direct transfer service (recommended)
The simplest, most comfortable and safest way to get from the new airport to CASA HELBLING is to take our personal transfer service. With an advance reservation, we will organize the transfer for you. A staffer of the "Trans Rabbit" transport service will then wait for you with your name on a "CASA HELBLING" at exit from the baggage pickup area. He will drive you here directly, the trip will take 45-90 minutes. The price is US$38 for up to three people, each additional personal costs an extra US$5. For a reservation, we need your name, date of arrival and time, flight number, airline, and flight route in advance. The reservation is non-refundable. We will put the fare on your hotel bill so you won't have to pay the driver more than a tip for friendly service.
This is the most comfortable option after a long-haul flight.
Taxis from the " Cooperativa del Aeropuerto Internacional" drive from the airport exit to town. The fare here is US$25 and should be paid at a counter inside. The drive will take 45-90 minutes.
This is the most flexible and fastest option.
3. Airport Shuttle
There is a red office to the right of the airport's main exit. Bus service "Aero Servicios" sells transfer tickets there for US$8 per person for the trip to the old airport terminal in northern Quito (seniors and children US$4). Tickets can be bought with a credit card on their website http://aeroservicios.com.ec, but not at the airport or from the driver. Transport of one suitcase and hand luggage is included in the fare, every additional item of luggage costs US$2. Departures are every 30 minutes from the main exit, round the clock. The buses have air conditioning and WiFi. Taxis from the old terminal charge US$5-10 to take you to CASA HELBLING, depending on traffic.
This is the best option for persons traveling alone.
4. Public buses
The stop for public buses ("Transporte Colectivo") is on a small platform across from the airport's main exit. Until 22 o'clock (10 pm): Green buses of the "El Quinche" cooperative travel from here to the northern city bus terminal "Rio Coca". The fare is US$2, payable on the bus. There are intermediate stops at Tababela, Pifo, Puembo, Tumbaco and Cumbayá. Transfers to the local southbound "Ecovia" in the adjacent terminal; all buses on that line will bring you to us. Fare is US$0,25, payable at the counter. Get off at the 12th station, "Manuela Cañizares". Walk down Avenida 6 de Diciembre about 2 minutes in the direction the bus was heading. At the next traffic light, cross left and walk up Calle Gral. Veintimilla. After 60 meters to the right, you'll find CASA HELBLING, the house with the big palm tree. This cheapest option is only recommended during daylight hours and with very light luggage. Pickpockets may be active on the Ecovía!
